This event is FREE for all AHIA Household Members.

In partnership with Belmont Heights Community Association we co-host an Annual Egg Hunt where over 500+ children join in to search for 4000+ candy filled eggs on the Red Car Greenbelt.

Twice a month from Spring to Fall our neighbors gather together in a casual front yard setting to "Wine Down" from the busy week. While neighbors bring a beverage to share, AHIA provides a "Host Kit" to our generous host for opening up their home.

A long standing tradition, AHAI hosts an annual neighborhood picnic with ALL the fixings for a fantastic day outside; food, treats,  games, vendors, door prizes, nieghbors and good old fashion FUN!

We secure the permit and shredding truck to assist neighbors in their Spring Cleaning and Document disposal. A popular annual event each Spring.

In partnership with Belmont Heights Community Association and Belmont Heights businesses, we co-host this event for 200+ children to enjoys carnival games and tick-or-treating fun on the Red Car Greenbelt.

In the Fall we work on planting parkway tress that are complimentary to the existing Magnolia trees in our neighborhood.  The program is funded through a Port of Long Beach grant we secure.  Our neighbors at the Conservation Corps partner with us on the planting the new young trees. Our signature event and community favorite. Every year on the Friday after Thanksgiving, our Community gathers at the Colorado Lagoon for the annual countdown to light the trees. Complete with Carolers. Hot Coco, Treats and Santa!

Live at The Shell

The Bandshell at Recreation Park, a registered Historical Landmark since 1929, has hosted diverse events. Despite being underutilized recently, the Friends of Recreation Park Bandshell (FORPBS) aims to revive its glory. Your support for this local treasure is encouraged.

Thank you to our neighbor and board-member, Craig Wallace for making this fun video documenting our most cherished AHIA Event, the Colorado Lagoon Tree Lighting.  A wonderful example of how membership drives our community non-profit, AHIA.

AHIA will host the 36th Annual Tree Lighting Celebration on:


Friday, November 29, 2024

6:00 pm - 8:00 pm

at the Colorado Lagoon Playground Area.


The Wilson High School Carolers will start off the festivities at 6:00 pm.  The trees will be lit and Santa will arrive with help from our friends at Long Beach Fire Station #4 at 6:30pm. You can visit with Stanta, take a photo and drop off your letter to him. The MYART Showcase Troupe will perform from 6:45-7:15.  Join us for yummy Cookies from Lazy Acres, delicious Hot Chocolate from Ubuntu and Family Fun for all at this cherished tradition.
